If you’re on X (formerly Twitter), you’ve probably seen many everyday professionals sharing a screenshot of how much they were paid last month on the platform. Some folks even made more $25,000 for just last month! Let’s explore some questions around this new update to the platform and how you can benefit too.

The kinds of people or accounts that can participate

First things first, it’s important to know that the Ad revenue share is available to anyone who consistently shares their thoughts on the platform. Aside from stand alone posts on your timeline, comments and reposts all count in how much you can earn while being active on the platform. According to X, you’re initially eligible if you meet the following requirements.

• Have at least 500 followers.

• Be subscribed to X Premium or Verified Organizations.

• Have at least 5M organic impressions on your cumulative posts within the last 3 months.

That it! Now, the most challenging part for most people is likely the 5M organic monthly impressions. It’s very possible to do this if you share your professional journey and insights on a regular basis with your audience. This past month, many professional who have full-time jobs received a payment for engagement and contribution to the platform. These include CEOs of large companies, business owners, engineers, parody accounts, among many others. The point is that, as long as you keep sharing your journey and insights, you’ll be able to earn some extra income over time.

You’ll need to find a way to remain consistent and engaged

As mentioned earlier, the challenging part for most will be finding a way to stay engaged and consistent. The truth is that growing your online presence will inherently help you attract more career and business opportunities. The more people know you for something, they better they can refer others to work with you. This is the main reason to build your online presence. Any other benefit that comes with it is just the icing on the cake.

So how do you stay engaged even when you have a plethora of other important things to do? One way to think about this is through the lens of sharing your journey with your audience. Day in, day out, we all go through experiences that are valuable. These experiences can and should be shared with others when possible. Whether that’s a win, a lesson or even a mishap, by forming the habit of sharing your journey, remaining consistent and engaged becomes much easier over time.
